Schüttwein

Common term in Austria for a very simple wine. This can also have a very negative meaning in the case of poor or faulty quality. Such a wine is then, due to its too pronounced acidity, not suitable for enjoyment, but only for "pouring down" (ex trinken) or, in the worst case, only for "pouring away". The designation can also be derived from the pouring together of wine residues (French: ripopée). Similar terms for rather simple wines are consumption wine, mass wine, draught wine and sour wine.
