rustic

Positive description (rustic = rural-simple) for the overall impression of a wine in the context of a wine evaluation or wine address. It is a rather simple (plain), earthy and hearty wine that has an acidic and often oxidative note. Related terms of rustic are robust, as well as the negatively connoted vulgar.
