The white grape variety originates from Portugal. Synonyms are Roal, Rocia, Rocial and Rual Ferreira. The parentage is unknown. The rosy grapevine is also used as table grape. It is grown in small quantities in the Alentejo and Algarve areas. In 2016, one hectare of vineyard was designated (Kym Anderson).
