Riede in the Austrian wine-growing region Wien in the 19th municipal district of Döbling in the cadastral municipality of Nussdorf, which belongs to Großlage Nußberg. It should not be confused with the Rosengartl vineyard in the 16th district of Ottakring. The vineyard has been classified as 1 ÖTW (Erste Lage of the Traditional Wine Estates of Austria) by the Winzervereinigung WienWein. The name probably refers to the roses planted in the past and still today at the beginning of the vine rows, which are used to indicate various plant diseases such as mildew at an early stage. The south-facing vineyard with a slope of 5 to 19 degrees at an altitude of 235 to 265 metres above sea level covers only 1.3 hectares of vines. The soil consists of eroded calcareous sands from marine deposits with a high quartz content. The typical varieties of the Wiener Gemischter Satz are cultivated with partly very old vines. The vineyard is managed by the Wieninger winery.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
