PGI

Abbreviation for "Protected Geographical Indication", the second highest wine quality level within the EU for country wines since 2009. This form is used in England, in English-speaking countries and also internationally. The highest quality level is called PDO = "Protected Designation of Origin" (protected designation of origin) for quality wine. See in detail under Quality System.
