This short term means "no and low alcohol" and refers to alcohol-free drinks. In common usage, such used to also be called "non-alcoholic spirits", but the term spirit is strictly protected under EU spirits regulation. It is mainly used as a synonym for "non-alcoholic aperitif and is often listed on drinks menus as an "alcohol-free alternative". See also under alcoholic beverages.
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
