Négociant éleveur

French term (négociant = trader, éleveur = farmer, farmer, breeder) for a producer or trader who purchases grapes or wines, processes them in his cellar, bottles them and markets them under his own name or trademark. In Champagne, the protected term Négociant manipulant (NM) is used instead. See also under Négociant, Bordeaux wine trade and wine trade.
