The red grape variety is a new cross between (Tintinha = Petit Bouschet x João de Santarém = Castelão Francês) x Muscat d'Hamburg. The cross was made in Portugal by José Leão Ferreira da Almeida. The variety is grown in small quantities in the Centro and Norte regions. In 2016, half a hectare of vineyard was designated (Kym Anderson).
