The winery "López de Heredia - Viña Tondonia" is located in the city of Haro in the centre of the Spanish Rioja sub-area Rioja Alta. It was founded in 1877 by Don Raphael López de Heredia y Landeta, who had previously been in the service of a French trading house. At the turn of the century, the company was considered a technological leader thanks to the application of French cellar technology. Today it is run by María José López de Heredia, now in the fifth generation of the family. The vineyards cover 170 hectares of vineyards planted with the classic Rioja varieties Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta, Mazuelo, Graciano, Viura(Macabeo) and Malvasía Riojana(Alarije). Once again, the same number of grapes are purchased.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
