Legel

Designation (also Lägel, Logel, Lögel) for an old measure for wine, which corresponded approximately to a bucket. It was common with different volumes in Hesse (50 l), Rheingau (45 l) and Switzerland (45 l). In Styria (Austria) Lägel was also a unit of weight for steel (70 kg). In Austria, Legel is also the name given to the butte (reading container). See also under hollow measures and wine vessels.
