The winery is located in the municipality of Sommerach (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. The family has been dedicated to viticulture since 1975. A guest flat is attached. The farm is run by Otmar and Adelheid Zang. Son Johannes is responsible for the cellar after completing a winegrowing apprenticeship in Wiesenbronn, internships in the Palatinate, South Tyrol and New Zealand and graduating as a viticulture technician from the Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture in 2007. The vineyards cover ten hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Katzenkopf and Rosenberg (Sommerach), Ratsherr (Volkach) and Landsknecht (Obervolkach). They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner (one third of the area), Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Rivaner, Scheurebe, Kerner and Rieslaner, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Domina and Dornfelder. The product range is divided into Young Franconia (young fruity wines, bottled in Bordeaux), Classic Franconia (in Bocksbeutel) and Great Franconia (long-lived complex wines, in Bocksbeutel). A speciality of the house is "Alter Satz". This Franconian cultural treasure comes from the oldest vineyard in Franconia dating back to 1835, i.e. vines that are over 175 years old with over 35 grape varieties, some of which are no longer known. Around 80,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
