The term "taste" (also harmonious dry) has no meaning under wine law and must not appear on a label under any circumstances. It is used in brochures or price lists by some producers when the wine law provisions for dry with max. 9 g/l residual sugar are not fulfilled and the wine thus corresponds to the next level semi-dry with max. 18 g/l (both maximum values are dependent on a corresponding acid content). This is a misleading term without a precise definition that is used to give sweet-tasting wines the aura of "dry". A similar term is modern dry. See also under sugar content.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
