Hawesko

In 1964, Peter Margaritoff founded the company "Hanseatische Wein- und Sekt-Kontor", which was then continued by his son Alexander Margaritoff from 1981 (at this time, sales totalled DM 10 million). Subsequently, many companies from the wine and spirits industry were either taken over to a large extent or joint ventures were entered into (see complete list below). Some of these are still managed by the previous owners, but work closely together in accordance with the "Corporate Governance Code" of Hawesko Holding AG.

In 2015 the investment company TOCOS acquired a 72.6% majority interest in the company from Detlev Meyer (founder of the clothing chain CBR), who has since acted as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. This led to the resignation of Alexander Margaritoff as Chairman of the Management Board and his withdrawal as a major shareholder (previously around 30%).
