The winery is located in the municipality of Mollands-Schönberg in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Kamptal. The traditional family has been located here since 1640. The first vineyards were stock crops from which natural quality wine was produced for friends and the family's own needs. Today, the winery is run by Oskar Hager. The vineyards cover 13 hectares of vineyards in the Kalvarienberg and Seeberg vineyards, for example. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Sämling 88, Sauvignon Blanc and Frühroter Veltliner, as well as the red wine variety Zweigelt. Natural viticulture is consistently practised. The grapes, harvested selectively, are gently processed in the 300-year-old vaulted cellar. The premium wines include various Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners Kamptal DAC or Kamptal DAC Reserve and the Zweigelt Grande Reserve aged in barriques. In years with suitable weather conditions, an ice wine is also produced.
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
