Grauer Veltliner

The white grape variety possibly originates from Austria. Synonyms are Blauer Veltliner and Veltelini Szuerke. See also a list of all Veltliner varieties under the Veltliner name group. The name is not derived from the colour of the berries, but from the red-blue-violet colour of the shoots. It is a mutation of Grüner Veltliner with grey-coloured berries. The variety is almost extinct; no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
