Eichberg (Alsace)

One of the sites classified as Grand Cru in Alsace (Haut-Rhin) within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. It was already mentioned in the 11th century. The vineyards cover 58 hectares of vines on limestone loam soil in the commune of Eguisheim. They are mainly planted with the varieties Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris. Well-known producers are Charles Baur, Léon, Beyer, Paul Ginglinger, Albert Hertz, Kuentz-Bas, André Scherer, Paul Scherer, Gèrard Schueller and Wolfberger. See also under Eichberg in Germany.
