The white grape variety comes from Switzerland. Synonyms are Bagrena, Diola, Diola Bianca, Diollaz, Dugiolo, Jiolaz, Jolaz, La Jollas, Tiola and Tiolla. The rediscovered vine was considered lost since the beginning of the 20th century. According to DNA analyses, there is a parent-offspring relationship with the Rèze variety. The variety is cultivated in small quantities in the canton of Valais. However, no stock was recorded in 2016 (statistics Kym Anderson).
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
