Clos du Bois

The winery is located in Healdsburg in the Alexander Valley in California's Sonoma County (North Coast region). It was founded in 1974 by Frank Woods and his partner Thomas Reed. At first it was supposed to be called "Woods Vineyards", but the French studying children of Woods finally chose the original name (french bois = forest, Clos du Bois = Vineyard of the Woods). After several changes of ownership, the estate was finally bought by Constellation Brands in 2007. Winemaker since 2003 is Erik Olsen, who worked at Mondavi and Simi Winery. The vineyards cover 370 hectares of vineyards in the Alexander Valley. In addition, grapes are purchased from the AVA areas of Dry Creek Valley, Knights Valley, Los Carneros, Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast (all Sonoma County, North Coast), as well as Monterey(Central Coast). Grape growers are supported in the management of their vineyards by Clos du Bois.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
