The white grape variety originates from Georgia. Synonyms are Atenuri, Caspury, Caspury Tetry, Chinabuli, Chinouri, Chinury, Cinebuli, Cinuri Tetri, Gomis Tetri, Kasipuri, Kaspouri Tetri, Kaspura, Kaspuri Tetri, Okroula, Saparula, Tchinouri and Tschinuri. The parentage is unknown. The late-maturing vine is resistant to downy mildew, but susceptible to powdery mildew. It yields fresh-fruited, acid accentuated white wines that are used for the production of sparkling wines and still wines. However, it is also used as table grape. The variety is mainly cultivated in the region of Kartlien. In 2016, 1,225 hectares of vines were reported (Kym Anderson statistics).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
