Still wine

Designation for a wine to distinguish it from a "lively" sparkling wine(sparkling wine, champagne). It contains no or very little carbon dioxide (still = not sparkling or sparkling). However, the name has no meaning under wine law. It is not permitted on the label under EU law because, according to wine labelling law, it could create a false or misleading association with "wine for a nursing mother" (see Health). A complete list of the numerous types of wine can be found under the keywords winemaking and speciality wines.
