Cevat Kara

The red grape variety originates from Ukraine; the name means "Black Colonel". Synonyms are Cevat Kara, Djevat Kara, Dshevat Kara, Dzhevat Kara, Jewath and Polkovnik Kara. It is cultivated on the Crimean peninsula. It is mostly used in blends with the Ekim Kara variety in fortified wines such as the branded wine Tschorny Doktor from Solnechnaya Dolina or in wines from the Massandra state winery. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
