Wine-growing region in northern Argentina
with around 2,300 hectares of vineyards directly at the foot of the Andes; to the east is the region of La Rioja
. Two thirds of the vineyards are located around Tintogasta. In the western part of El Valle, which extends into the high Andean valleys, the white variety Torrontés
is mainly cultivated, from which aromatic white wines are made. In the east, the light red Cereza
dominates, which serves as the basis for rosé wines for mass consumption and RTK
(rectified grape must concentrate).
