Catamarca

Wine-growing region in the north of Argentina with around 2,300 hectares of vineyards directly at the foot of the Andes; to the east lies the region of La Rioja. Two thirds of the vineyards are located around Tintogasta. In the western part of El Valle, which reaches into the high Andean valleys, the white variety Torrontés is cultivated, from which aromatic white wines are pressed. In the east, the light red Cereza dominates, which serves as the basis for rosé-coloured wines for mass consumption and RCGM (rectified grape must concentrate).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
