Cask strength

In the case of spirits, a distinction is made between "strong" and "strong by the barrel" with regard to storage in barrels. The term "strong" refers to spirits with an alcohol content of around 40% by volume, while the term "strong" refers to spirits with an alcohol content of 60% or more by volume. In the case of cognac(brandy), for example, the product is reduced to drinking strength immediately before bottling by dilution with faible (distilled water with a little alcohol). However, there are also products (whiyky) that are already stored at drinking strength in the barrel and then do not need to be treated or diluted when bottled.
