Callet Cas Concos Negro

The red grape variety (also Callet Cas Concos) comes from the Spanish island of Mallorca(Balearic Islands). According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, it comes from a presumably natural crossbreed Beba x Girò. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). The white variety Callet Cas Concos Blanco was created by a colour mutation. Callet Cas Concos Negro was the parent of the two varieties Callet and Manto Negro, which are also cultivated on Mallorca. However, the variety is no longer important; in 2016 no stock was recorded (Kym Anderson).
