The winery is located in the municipality of Schrattenthal south of Retz in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel near the border to the Czech Republic. It is managed by Werner Zull, son Phillip is responsible for cellar and vinification. The vineyards cover 17 hectares of vines in the Äußere Bergen and Innere Bergen vineyards and on the southern slopes of the Manhartsberg. They are 65% planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Müller-Thurgau and Welschriesling, and 35% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The aim is to produce wines that are full of character, typical of the region and have ageing potential. The wines are matured either classically in steel tanks or large wooden barrels, the wines from top vineyards partly also in barriques. The premium wines include several Weinviertel DAC (Grüner Veltliner), Pinot Noir and the red wine cuvée "Schrattenthal 9" (Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot). In years with suitable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslese and ice wines are also produced. Noble brandies (wine, marc) are also produced. The winery is a member of the Association of Premium Wine Estates Weinviertel, whose chairman is Werner Zull.
