The winery is located in the municipality of Maikammer (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. The traditional Ziegler family has been growing grapes in Maikammer for almost 300 years. Today's winery, whose manor house, built in the style of the founders, is a listed building, was founded by August Ziegler in 1894. Today it is run by his great-grandchildren Harald (sales) and Uwe Ziegler (winemaking), already the eighth generation of the family. A new sales and presentation room was opened in 2002. The vineyards cover 20 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard sites Biengarten, Mandelgarten and Schlössel (Gimmeldingen), Kapellenberg (Alsterweiler), Römerweg (Kirrweiler), Eselshaut (Mußbach), as well as Heiligenberg and Kirchenstück (Maikammer). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (4 ha), Pinot Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Scheurebe, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris, Rieslaner, Silvaner, Chardonnay, Kerner and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, St. Laurent, Cabernet Cubin, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah. The white wines are matured in steel tanks, the red wines in large wooden barrels or barriques. We also experiment with red wine cuvées.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
