Group of insects with more than 40,000 species with eponymous, trunk-like elongated head and bent club-feet. Most of these often inconspicuously colored beetles and even more so their larvae are pests on plants of all species, including vines. There they infest roots, wood, leaves, flowers and fruits. Of importance for viticulture are the two species of weevils, the largemouth weevil (Lappenrüssler) and the vine weevil.

In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
