Valtènesi

DOC area for red wine and rosé wine on the southwest shore of Lake Garda between Desenzano and Salò in the Italian region of Lombardy. The zone completely covers the municipalities of Bedizzole, Calvagese della Riviera, Gavardo, Manerba del Garda, Moniga del Garda, Muscoline, Padenghe sul Garda, Polpenazze del Garda, Puegnago del Garda, Roé Volciano, Salò, San Felice del Benaco, Soiano del Lago, Villanuova sul Clisi, as well as parts of the municipalities of Lonato del Garda and Desenzano del Garda in the province of Brescia. On the label the geographical indications Manerba, Mocasina, Moniga, Padenghe, Picedo, Polpenazze, Portese, Puegnago, Raffa, San Felice and Soiano can also be added. The wines must be made from at least 85% Groppello Gentile and/or Groppello di Mocasina, and a maximum of 50% of other authorised varieties. There is the red wine Valtènesi and the dark rosé Valtènesi Chiaretto. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna can be indicated followed by the name of the vineyard.
