The winery is located in the municipality of Avio, south of Trento, in the Italian wine-growing region of Trentino (Trentino-Alto Adige region). The name derives from an old place name. The farm was acquired by Ezio Scienza in 1963, and since 1998 it has been run by his son Filippo and his wife Barbara Scienza. After his oenological training in San Michele all'Adige, the owner gained practical experience in Tuscany, as well as in Germany, French Burgundy and the USA. The vineyards cover eight hectares. The dry stone walls built there are an ideal habitat for many small animals. The red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Marzemino are cultivated, as well as the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Blanc. The cultivation takes place after ecological guidelines with cover crop Organic fertilization, pest control by means of pheromone traps and the use of no pesticides. The vinification process is carried out very sparingly. The product range includes various wines of the DOC Trentino, as well as IGT Vallagarina.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
