The white grape variety originates from Portugal. Synonyms are Arinto do Pico, Arinto dos Açores, Terrantez and Terrantes da Terceira. The parentage is unknown. It must not be confused with other Terrantez varieties such as Arinto (with synonym Terrantez da Terceira) or Sercial (Arinto dos Açores), among others. The variety is grown in small quantities in the Azores. However, no stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
