To mark the tenth anniversary of the reign of Duke Christian von Sachsen-Weißenfels, an extraordinary monument was erected in a vineyard near Großjena (Saxony-Anhalt) in 1722. It was commissioned by the court jeweller J. C. Steinauer. The "Stone Picture Book" or "Stone Album" is a 200 metre long relief of 12 pictures carved out of a rock step. It shows scenes from the Old Testament of the Bible, depicting labour in the vineyard, the enjoyment of wine and its consequences and, of course, pays homage to the Duke. The balustrade decorated with figures along the upper edge of the terrace was reconstructed using old photographs and some existing remains.
Christ with a cross banner stands in the wine press with his clothes pulled up and squeezes the grapes in the ancient manner with bare feet. Winegrowers in 18th century costume bring the grapes in butts.
