Independent municipal area in the Département Vaucluse in the southern French appellation Côtes du Rhône-Villages (see AOC regulations there). Since 1967, the municipality has been allowed to use the name on the label. Winegrowing developed in the 13th century under the influence of the Counts of Toulouse. A wine brotherhood was founded here as early as 1685. This was revived in 1985 under the name "Confrérie des Chevaliers du Gouste-Séguret Compagnons de Saint Vincent". Every year in August, under their patronage, a wine festival is held in honour of Saint Vincent. The vineyards cover 270 hectares of vines on clay and limestone soils. Red, rosé and white wines are produced. Well-known producers are Jean-Pierre Brotte, Domaine de Cabasse, Domaine Garancière and Domaine du Sommier.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
