Positive term (vulgar Latin for "pleasantly pungent" or colloquially "delightful") in the context of a wine description or wine rating, but which is to be understood in the context of the description. This can be expressed, for example, by "the wine is characterised by piquant acidity " or, conversely, "piquant sweetness" or "piquant tannins". Related terms to piquant are rezent and spicy.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
