The white grape variety (also known as Rodites Kokkinos) originates from Greece. Its parentage is unknown. Whether there is a genetic relationship to the Roditis variety is also unknown. In Wine Grapes, Roditis Kokkinos is described as identical to the Tourkopoula variety. However, the two varieties differ morphologically in terms of berry and cluster shape. Both varieties are listed as independent in the VIVC catalogue.
Roditis Kokkinos is cultivated in small quantities in the Peloponnese and on the Ionian islands of Corfu and Zakynthos. The variety is also used as table grape. In 2016, Kym Anderson 's statistics showed 828 hectares for the Roditis R variety (R = red berries). This is presumably the Roditis Kokkinos variety.
