In the Rhineland (Germany), common name for liquid manure (Gülle); see there.

Term for the excrement of animals and humans. Depending on the proportion of faeces and urine, this is also referred to as "slurry" in different local terms. A stinking, brown liquid is produced in corresponding catch basins by fermenting processes. In technical terms, liquid manure consists mainly of liquid excrement, while slurry is a mixture of animal excrement (faeces and urine) as well as water and possibly also bedding such as straw. The excrement of herbivores, especially of ungulates (cattle) is called "manure", the mixture of animal excrement (manure with solid and liquid components) with a binding medium such as mostly straw is called "stable manure" (dung).
