medium sweet

Designation for a certain content of residual sugar in the wine, which can optionally be stated on the label (the formerly used German term halbsüß is no longer permitted). This applies to wines if the value exceeds the value valid for semi-dry (12 g/l or depending on the acidity 18 g/l), but does not exceed 45 g/l = sweet. For the other designations and tastes, see sugar content.
