The "Langmann vulgo Lex" winery is located in the municipality of Langegg (St. Stefan ob Lainz) in the Austrian wine-growing region of Western Styria. The estate has been owned by the traditional family since 1746, and the first documentary mention of winegrowing dates back to 1793. A family document reports that the winery was honoured at a Schilcher wine tasting in Stainz in 1909. A wine tavern and a guest house are attached. Stefan Langmann Sr. is responsible for the operation, he is supported by Stefan Jr. (cellar and presentations) and his brother Günter (cellar and vineyard).
The vineyards cover 16 hectares of vines in the Greisdorf, Hochgrail and Langegg vineyards on the southern foothills of the Koralpe. Schilcher Blauer Wildbacher dominates with 85%, the rest is shared by Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller, Gewürztraminer, Müller-Thurgau, Sämling 88 (Scheurebe), Sauvignon Blanc, Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Welschriesling. The white wines are vinified classically, the red wines internationally. The winery also produces Schilcher Steirischer Junker, Schilcher sekt, Schilcher frizzante and various fine brandies.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
