The winery is located in the municipality of Pernersdorf in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. In the traditional family business, all family heads have been called Julius since 1788. Today it is run by Erika and Julius Klein. The vineyards cover 14 hectares in the Johannisberg, Rustenberg, Steinbergen and Wiege vineyards. They are 70% planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer and Muskateller, and 30% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The wines mature in the vaulted cellar, which is over 300 years old. The premium wines include, for example, Weinviertel DAC Rustenberg and Weinviertel DAC Wiege (both Grüner Veltliner), the Grüner Veltliner "Tethys" named after the primordial sea, as well as Gewürztraminer and the red wine cuvée "Johannisberg". Frizzante is also produced. The winery is a member of the winegrowers' associations Weingüter Retzer Land and Premium-Weingüter Weinviertel.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
