Klausenberg

single vineyard in the municipality of Meißen in the German wine-growing region of Saxony. With 3.5 hectares of vineyards, it is the smallest in Saxony single vineyard. It was already mentioned on a map in 1685 as "Bernsteinscher Berg" and "Bernsteinsche Presse". Around 1900, a wine bar was advertised as "Klause - Steinberg". The vineyards, which are oriented from south to southwest and have slopes of up to 50%, have loose, stony granite weathered soils with a low percentage of fine soil. The grape varieties cultivated here are Goldriesling, Traminer, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. The vineyard was replanted by the Walter Schuh winery in 1992 and the dry stone walls were restored. Since then, it has been the sole property of this winery.
