Item (single vineyard Germany)

single vineyard in the municipality of Bacharach (Loreley area) in the German Middle Rhine wine-growing region. The name was first mentioned in 1408. It is derived either from a still existing watchtower in the old town wall or from an exposed rocky outcrop. The south to south-east facing vineyard at 150 to 230 metres above sea level with a slope of 15 to 65% covers four hectares of vines. The single vineyard Wolfshöhle is located to the west. The soil consists of weathered Devonian slate with small sandstone inclusions. Mainly Riesling is cultivated here. The picture shows Stahleck Castle as well as the single vineyard sites Posten (front) and Wolfshöhle (back). The two wineries Bastian Friedrich and Ratzenberger, for example, have shares in the site.
