The Englishman Thomas Hine (born 1775) came to Cognac in 1792 and married the daughter of a cognac producer. In 30 years he expanded the company in Jarnac for the finest and oldest cognacs. Today, Hine is one of the most famous brands in the world and belongs to the multi LVMH. The cognacs are made exclusively from the best areas of Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, with all grapes supplied by winegrowers. They are initially aged for eight months in new oak barrels and then continue to the peak in older large-pored barrels. After the assemblage, the distillates rest again in small barrels for up to twelve months, creating the typical Hine flavour.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
