IGT area (land wines) for white and red wines in the Italian region of Lazio. It covers four hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Cerveteri, Fiumicino, Ladispoli, S. Marinella and Tolfa in the province of Roma. Grape varieties authorised in the region may be used. The main grape varieties with at least 60% are Malvasia del Lazio and/or Vermentino (Bianco), as well as Montepulciano and Sangiovese (Rosso), the rest may be other authorised varieties. Varietal wines must contain at least 85% of the variety in question, up to 15% may be other varieties. For the wines, a minimum alcohol content is prescribed differently for each wine type, but no ageing period.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
