The winery "Bodegas Chozas Carrascal" is located in the municipality of San Antonio (part of the municipality of Requena) in the Spanish DO area of Utiel-Requena in the Spanish region of Valenciana. The name is derived from the English oaks (Carrascal, Choza = hut) found there. It was founded and built in 1990 by the couple Julián López and María José Peidro. They experimented with different grape varieties in order to select the most suitable ones for the respective soil type. The first wine was not produced until 2003. Today, the business is run by their children Julián López-Peidro (oenologist) and María José López-Peidro (wine tours, marketing). In addition to viticulture, olive cultivation is also practised.
