Chlorides

Chlorides are organic and inorganic compounds of the chemical element or gas chlorine (Cl), which exist in many forms. In the narrower sense, the term refers to the salts of the acid hydrogen chloride (HCl). Aqueous solutions of this are called hydrochloric acid. In addition to nutrients, inorganic chlorides play an important role in plant physiology in various essential processes such as osmosis regulation, ion transport, photosynthesis and protection against diseases (as do nitrates, phosphates and sulphates).
