The winery is located on the edge of the municipality of Preignac in the Sauternes area(Graves, Bordeaux). It is owned by the Médeville family, which also owns the two wineries Château Respide-Médeville in Graves and Château les Justices also in Sauternes. Christian Médeville has now handed over the management to his daughter Julie and her husband Xavier. Château Gilette's vineyards cover five hectares of vineyards planted with the Sémillon (94%), Sauvignon Blanc (4%) and Muscadelle (2%) varieties. Harvesting is done in five to seven rounds, with the first round picking only a few berries affected by noble rot. This exceptional wine never comes into contact with wood during vinification. The grapes harvested in the individual stages are fermented separately in stainless steel tanks. This results in wines with different styles.
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
