Synonyms are Cagnolone, Cararratto Rouge, Catarratto Rouge, Catarrattu Niuru, Grecani, Greganica Niura, Grecanico, Grecanico Nero, Grecanicu Niuru, Grecanio and Maimone. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. About a possible genetic relation to the white variety Catarratto Bianco nothing is known either. In 2016, no stock was reported (statistics Kym Anderson).
