The winery is located in the municipality of Bolgheri in the central-western part of the Italian region of Tuscany. The name means "house of endless negotiations" in Piedmontese dialect, because it took a total of 18 rounds to complete the purchase by the Gaja family. After the purchase was completed in 1996, the winery was completely rebuilt and refurbished to the most modern standards, which was completed in 2000. The special thing about it is that the winery has always blended in with its surroundings from year to year and is now "invisible". In fact, the buildings were built underground in a deeply excavated pit. Today, the winery is considered an architectural work of art.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
