The vine is an interspecific new cross between Vitis riparia (Geisenheim 183) x Vitis cinerea. Synonyms or breeding numbers are Börner, NA 5153-54 and Naumburg 5153-54. The cross was made in Geisenheim by the breeder Dr. Carl Börner (1880-1953). It was released in 1989 and is used as a rootstock (see Börner there).
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
