blotto

Folk term for a drunken stupor after excessive alcohol consumption. The state of drunkenness is described as "no longer being able to see the stars in the sky". In Hesse, the expression "having a star" is also common for this. See also under alcoholism as well as the many other terms under intoxication.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
