Blanc Dame

The white grape variety originates from France. Synonyms are Blanc Madame, Blanquette Grise, Clairette de Gascogne, Claret, Claret de Gascogne and Plan de Dame. It was first mentioned in 1840 under the name Plan de Dame in Rabastens in the southern département of Tarn. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2007, it originates from a presumably natural cross between Gouais Blanc x unknown partner. The medium-ripening vine is susceptible to fungal diseasesfungi .It yields neutral tasting, acidic white wines and is alsousedas table grape.The almost extinct variety is grown in tiny quantities in the departments of Gers and Pyrénées-Atlantiques mostly in mixed setMixed set.It is authorised for Armagnac.In 2016, only 0.2 hectares of vines were declared (Kym AndersonAnderson Kym).
